IPNEWS: In an effort to help Liberia security agencies to make the country a drug-free society, six community leaders who voluntarily joined the fight under the canopy of “Community Police” were arrested by the Liberia National Police (LNP) Sinoe County detachment.

According to reports reaching IPNEWS, the six community leaders were arrested by the Liberia National Police on the order of the Police Commander on grounds that they took unilateral decision to arrest an alleged notorious drug dealer in the county, only identified as โ€˜MILLIONAIREโ€™.

The report maintains that the six community leaders were arrested in Joe.

The report from that southeastern county of Sinoe, reveal that elders of the community on several occasions called on the alleged drug dealer and informed him to halt the sale of the drug because such business is causing serious harm to the youth of Sinoe County. But despite the several warnings to the drug dealer, he continued to pay deaf ears to the people pleads.

The citizens stated that due to the lackadaisical attitude of the drug dealer not to give them attention after many appeals, they complained him to offices of the joint security assigned in the county but their complains felt on a rocket ground, something according to dwellers left them with no other option but constrained to effect citizensโ€™ arrest on the alleged drug dealers.

Sadly, following the arrest of the elders by the police in Joe Village, located in Sinoe County, Electoral district #2 Rep. Sampson Wiah immediately ordered an urgent investigation into the matter.

Rep. Wiah said, the arrest made by the LNP on July 5, 2021 in Joe’s village was not only unacceptable but should be condemned by all peace loving Liberians. โ€œThe citizens in one of their meetings resolved and declared zero tolerance on the use of illicit drug in the County” the lawmaker asserted.

At the same, he reiterated call to the LNP and Liberia Drug Enforcement Agency (LDEA) to quickly conduct a speedily investigation into the matter regarding drugs abuse and Illicit trafficking that inflict mental disorderliness on the lives on Liberians who are the future of our society.

Wiah however, admonishes the authority of the joint security, especially the LNP and LDEA toย  assign officers in that part of the country in other to protect the people against negative substances for the good of the society future generations.
