Jeety Puts Smiles on Inmates’ Faces

IPSNEWS – Monrovia: Former Indian Honorary Consul General to Liberia, Mr. Upjit Singh Sachdeva continued his humanitarian gesture against by providing hot, cooked meal to over 1000 inmates at the Monrovia Central Prison (MCP).

Mr. Sachdeva, who is famously known in Liberia as “Jeety”, has been on this philanthropical gesture for more than five years and has now served more than 20,000 plates of hot, cooked meal to destitute Liberians around Monrovia and at the MCP.

Former Consul General Sachdeva, who is also the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Jeety Trading Corporation (JTC), a conglomeration of several different businesses, has always blended his feeding with the awareness of keeping safe during these Covid-19 times.

On Sunday, June 20, Mr. Jeety didn’t only take the food to the inmates, he also added other materials along for the prisoners.

During the presentation of the items the prison authority, Deputy MCP Superintendent for Administration Joel Justin G. Juah, praised Mr. Jeety for always thinking about the MCP and coming to serve hot meal to the men, women and children who are incarcerated at the MCP.

Juah spoke on behalf of Prison Superintendent, Col. Varney G. Lake. Speaking further, Juah applauded Jetty for his continued support to inmates at the Monrovia Central Prison.

He appealed that the Indian businessman extends his gestures to other prison facilities around the country. According to him items that are in dire need within these facilities are buckets, cooking utensils and others sanitation Items to be used by inmates and visitors during this time of the Covid-19 outbreak in Liberia.

In response, Mr. Jeety promised to consider the request made by the Deputy MCP Superintendent Juah. He called on all philanthropists to come in and lead by extending humanitarian supports to those who have come in conflict with the rule of law and now behind bars.

He then joined others in the kitchen to dish out the food for the inmates.
